GAULEY BRIDGE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is facing multiple charges after an alleged domestic altercation in Gauley Bridge that escalated into property damage, threats against a police officer, and damage to a patrol vehicle.
According to the Gauley Bridge Police Department, officers responded to a call around 7:09 p.m. on March 11, 2026, regarding an altercation in progress on Conley Hill in the Gauley Bridge area of Fayette County.
When Patrolman T.L. Farley II arrived on scene, he observed two adult males restraining a man later identified as Timothy Titus. The officer quickly took control of the situation and placed Titus in handcuffs for officer safety before securing him in the rear of the patrol cruiser.
Authorities say the two men told the officer that Titus had come to their residence to speak with them regarding their sister, whom he is currently involved in a divorce with. According to their statements, Titus had allegedly consumed an entire bottle of whiskey and appeared heavily intoxicated.
The men said Titus attempted to leave the residence in his truck but allegedly struck property belonging to one of the residents, damaging a metal water hose holder with his vehicle. They also told police that Titus nearly struck one of them with the vehicle during the incident.
Police also spoke with Titus’s mother, who was present at the scene. She told officers that the two men had restrained Titus to prevent him from assaulting her. She reportedly told police she feared he would strike her and said Titus had threatened to “smack” her during the altercation.
While secured in the back seat of the patrol vehicle, police say Titus became increasingly aggressive. According to the report, he repeatedly kicked the cruiser’s rear door and window, causing damage to the rear door, front door, window trim, and completely destroying the cruiser’s in-car rear radar unit.
Due to Titus’s behavior, additional officers were called to assist. Corporal Fox and Deputy Holstein with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Wriston with the Gauley Bridge Police Department, and Captain Roberts with the Montgomery Police Department responded to the scene.
Officers placed foot restraints on Titus in order to prevent further damage to the cruiser and to keep him from injuring himself.
Authorities determined Titus would be transported directly to Southern Regional Jail due to his continued aggressive behavior.
While being transported to the jail, police say Titus made a threatening statement toward the arresting officer, allegedly saying that once he was released he would burn the officer’s residence down and blow up his vehicle, telling the officer to “just give it a few weeks.”
Police say the statement was considered a retaliatory threat against a law enforcement officer.
Upon arrival at Southern Regional Jail, officers advised jail staff of Titus’s behavior, and staff assisted with escorting him into the facility.
Titus was subsequently charged with domestic assault, assault, two counts of destruction of property, and retaliation against a public official.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
