OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Gilliland Park Pool will be closed until further notice as crews prepare for a major new pool project aimed at improving safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for local families.
According to Gilliland Park Pool Supervisor Jennifer Cook, surveying and planning for the project have already been completed, and FEMA officials along with engineers have finalized the designs for a brand-new pool.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
City officials say the upgraded facility will include modern safety features, improved accessibility, kid-friendly areas, and updated amenities designed to create a more welcoming environment for the community.
Officials acknowledged the closure may impact summer plans for many families but said the improvements are necessary to create a long-term investment for the area.
“We are confident that the wait will be worth the amazing outcome,” the notice stated.
