Charleston – Leslie Huffman wasn’t perfect Tuesday night, but she was pretty close to it.
The all-state guard scored 27 points on 9 of 13 shooting, dished out 10 assists and stole nine passes as the top-seeded Crusaderettes blasted No. 8 Buffalo 69-19 in the Class AA quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
After leading Buffalo 3-2 in the early going, Catholic outscored the Bison 41-3 throughout the rest of the first half, shutting them out in the second quarter.
The 19 points allowed broke the previous Class AA record for fewest points allowed which was 21.
Flanking Huffman, Jocelynn Horn (11) and Lainie Ross (10) each scored in double figures. Kaylee Bowling led Buffalo with nine points int he loss.
Catholic advances to Friday’s semifinal game where it will play Petersburg for a spot in Saturday’s Class AA championship game.
