Charleston – After playing a pair of thrillers in its opening round games, North Marion took the intrigue out of Saturday’s Class AAA title game early.
The Huskies jumped out to a 26-10 lead after a quarter and never relented, taking a 51-24 lead into the break in what amounted to an 88-60 win in the Class AAA state title game Saturday evening at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The Huskies found success from behind the arc all evening, canning 12 of their 22 3-point attempts with nine of those makes coming in the first half.
Emma Freels and Olivia Toland scored 18 each for North which won its fifth state championship under head coach Mike Parrish.
Mackenna Half led Philip Barbour with 16 points in the loss.
