Charleston – Haley Jarrett’s 3-pointer with 41 seconds left gave No. 7 Sissonville a 47-45 lead, one it didn’t relinquish in upsetting No. 2 Wayne 49-45 Thursday afternoon in the Class AAA quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
With the win the Indians advance to the semifinals where they’ll face No. 6 Philip Barbour on Friday at 9 p.m.
The loss was only the second of the season for Wayne (24-2) and moves Sissonville to 15-10.
The Pioneers took 23 more shots than the Indians (70-47) but couldn’t capitalize, shooting 24 percent from the field.
Kynna Britton led the charge for the Indians with 16 points while Jarrett netted 14.
Brooke Adkins led Wayne with 16 points in the loss.
