CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Following a large Democratic victory in Virginia from the governor’s race to statehouse races, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey is urging Virginia residents to move to the Mountain State.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday evening, Morrisey told Virginia residents that now is their time to escape.
“It’s about to get awful blue in the commonwealth of Virginia. Don’t wait for the high taxes to heavy regulations to come, now is your chance to escape to wild and wonderful West Virginia.”
Morrisey is not alone, State Senator Chris Rose (R-Monongalia) also urged Virginia residents to flee to West Virginia in a Facebook post.
“After the results of tonight’s elections, it is clear that West Virginia is Best Virginia.
We will be here with open arms for any conservative who is wanting to truly embrace freedom. MONTANI SEMPER LIBERI!”
This is not the first time West Virginia leaders have called for such action.
In January 2020, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice and Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. invited Virginia counties to secede and join West Virginia, which was a symbolic gesture to protest Virginia’s political direction at the time.
