CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Patrick Morrisey announced that West Virginia state employees will receive a half-day off on Friday, April 3, in recognition of Good Friday and ahead of the Easter holiday.
The additional time off will be provided without deducting from employees’ accrued annual leave, according to the announcement.
The measure applies specifically to state government workers and does not extend to employees in the private sector, local governments, or other organizations.
“The dedication of our state employees is truly remarkable,” said Governor Morrisey. “They work tirelessly year-round serving the people of West Virginia with professionalism and heart. I hope this will provides an opportunity for everyone to spend meaningful time with their families and loved ones over the Easter weekend.”
State officials say the move is intended to recognize the work of public employees while allowing them additional time to prepare for and observe the Easter holiday.
