ANSTED, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Fayette County man was arrested late Friday night following a domestic disturbance that left his grandfather injured, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded around 11:16 p.m. on March 27, 2026, to a residence on Fox Avenue after receiving a report of a domestic incident.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant, who said he had been involved in a physical altercation with his grandson inside the home. The man told authorities his grandson had been drinking and causing a disturbance, including yelling and using foul language.
According to the report, the situation escalated after the grandfather attempted to get his grandson to go upstairs. He said he took the phone from his grandson before stepping outside to retrieve a cat that had gotten out of the home.
When he returned, the grandson allegedly came up from behind and attempted to tackle him, leading to a physical struggle. During the altercation, the grandfather said he tripped over a chair and cut his arm on an unfinished section of a wall. Deputies observed injuries consistent with his account.
The grandfather told deputies he did not wish to pursue charges.
Deputies then made contact with the suspect, who was found upstairs in the residence. According to authorities, he admitted to attempting to wrestle with his grandfather to get his phone back and appeared to be intoxicated.
Following the investigation, Jonathan Crist was arrested and charged with domestic battery.
He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
