WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Greenbrier County woman is charged with child abuse resulting in injury.
According to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a juvenile problem in White Sulphur Springs. Dispatch told deputies that the caller, Alexandria Dowdy, stated her teenage son had become violent, attacking and punching her in the face. She also said that her son had a kitchen knife, and she was fearful for her safety.
When deputies arrived, Dowdy said her son became violent for no reason. She said her son attacked her and then tried to attack another sibling with a kitchen knife and a hammer.
When deputies spoke to the juvenile, they noticed he had scrapes and red marks on his face, head, and neck. He told deputies that he did struggle with his mother but that she was the aggressor.
The juvenile told deputies that his mother would say she wished he had been aborted because he would end up like his father in prison. She allegedly wouldn’t give him his school Chromebook and tell him how bad of a person he was. He admitted to fighting with his mother after she reportedly shoved his face into the wall, causing his face to break the drywall. He said he never had a sharp knife but used a butterknife to unlock his brother’s bedroom door. The mother also allegedly strangled her son with both her hands, causing him to struggle to breathe.
EMS took the juvenile to the hospital for evaluation.
Dowdy is charged with child abuse resulting in injury. She is being held in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000-dollar bond.
