SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Greenbrier West Cavaliers controlled the game from the opening kickoff Friday night, rolling to a 52-12 road win over the Summers County Bobcats.
Ben Butler opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run just over two minutes into the game.

Minutes later, he struck again on a 52-yard punt return to give the Cavaliers a 13-0 lead. Summers County answered late in the first quarter when Elijah Franklin connected with Rylan Tabor on a 30-yard touchdown pass, trimming the deficit to 13-6.
From there, Greenbrier West (1-1) took full command. Colton Dunbar ran for a 13-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, then hit Mason Ward on a 30-yard scoring strike to stretch the lead to 26-6 at halftime.
The Cavaliers extended their advantage in the third quarter, as Dunbar found Ward again on a short 3-yard pass before Colton Chrisman broke free for a 43-yard touchdown run.
Summers County (0-2) briefly closed the gap with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Franklin to D’yondre Wynes early in the fourth quarter, but Greenbrier West sealed the win with two more scores.
Vaxton Vaughan found the end zone on a 25-yard run, and Anthony Martin capped the night by returning a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown.
The Cavaliers will look to keep momentum next week when they travel to face the Liberty Raiders. Summers County will try to regroup on the road against Meadow Bridge on Sept. 19.
