CABELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A legal guardian in Cabell County is under investigation following reports of physically striking a juvenile under their care on multiple occasions.
On May 16, 2025, at approximately 9:43 a.m., officers were dispatched to 401 Camp Street in Huntington after receiving a report from Child Protective Services (CPS). According to the CPS worker, the juvenile reported being punched in the face by their guardian, resulting in visible bruising on the right side of their face.
The guardian was confirmed as the child’s legal custodian. CPS also provided a contact number for a witness, identified as a mandatory reporter, who observed a separate incident the day before. The witness stated they saw the guardian slap the juvenile with an open hand on May 15 at a location on 3rd Avenue, also in Huntington. The slap reportedly caused the child to cry.
Authorities are actively investigating the situation, and charges may be pending based on further evidence and interviews. Currently, she is charged with child abuse.
Child Protective Services continues to monitor the juvenile’s safety and well-being.
