HARRISON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Harrison County will publicly launch and celebrate the expansion of CarePortal, a technology platform that connects local churches with real-time needs of vulnerable children and families. This is the first formal county launch following a successful early 2025 pilot in Monongalia and Preston counties.
CarePortal empowers communities to support families with tangible resources, strengthening services available to children and families. The event will include a live demonstration of the platform in action, showcasing how local churches can respond to urgent needs in real time.

Why This Matters:
CarePortal is transforming community involvement in the child welfare system by creating direct connections between local child-serving professionals and church partners ready to assist families in crisis.
Nationally, CarePortal operates in 38 states, has met 166,009 requests, served 440,361 children, and produced an estimated $168 million in economic impact.
The Monongalia and Preston County pilot served nearly 300 children in just a few months and generated more than $60,000 in estimated economic impact.
The Harrison County launch, made possible through collaboration with the West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) and Chestnut Mountain Village, marks a significant next step toward strengthening families and supporting children statewide. CarePortal is expected to launch next in Marion, Taylor, and Barbour counties, with long-term plans for availability across West Virginia.
Event Highlights:
The program will include remarks from state and local leaders, a live CarePortal demonstration, opportunities for media interviews, and informal networking. Light refreshments, drinks, and desserts will be provided.
