WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia residents will be able to ride the Hatfield-McCoy Trails for free on Saturday, June 20, in celebration of West Virginia Day.
The Hatfield-McCoy Trails is offering complimentary day passes to all West Virginia residents as part of the state’s birthday celebration.
“West Virginia Day is a special opportunity to celebrate our state’s rich heritage, scenic beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities,” said Marketing Director Chris Zeto.
“We’re excited to welcome West Virginians to experience the Hatfield-McCoy Trails at no cost and enjoy a day of adventure with family and friends. We invite everyone to come ride, explore and celebrate the Mountain State with us.”
Residents must present a valid West Virginia driver’s license or state-issued identification card to receive a free day pass.
Trail officials said all Hatfield-McCoy Trails rules and regulations will remain in effect. Riders are reminded to follow all safety requirements and regulations while using the trail system. West Virginia Department of Natural Resources police officers will be patrolling the trails and checking for proper rider permits.
Officials noted that free West Virginia Day passes are not available through local retailers and are valid only on Saturday, June 20.
Complimentary passes may be obtained June 20 at the following Hatfield-McCoy Trails locations:
- Bearwallow Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Buffalo Mountain Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Cabwaylingo Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Coal River Group Welcome Center: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Country Roads Visitors Center: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Devil Anse Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Hatfield-McCoy Welcome Center: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Ivy Branch Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Pinnacle Creek Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Pocahontas Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Rockhouse Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Warrior Trailhead: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
