ANSTED, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Hawks Nest Rail Trail has officially reopened after a temporary closure for construction.
According to the Town of Ansted, the trail reopened on July 28, 2026, allowing visitors to once again enjoy the popular outdoor destination.
The trail had been closed while construction work was completed. Town officials thanked the public for its patience during the closure and encouraged residents and visitors to return to the trail.
The Hawks Nest Rail Trail is open for hiking, biking, walking and sightseeing, offering access to scenic views in the New River Gorge region.
