BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has scheduled hearings this month regarding a 22.7 percent increase in rates for Beckley Water Co. (BWC).
A public comment hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. April 15at the Tamarack Conference Center, Board Room, One Tamarack Park, Beckley, followed by the evidentiary hearing.
In September 2025, the company filed for the rate increase, seeking $3.9 million in additional annual revenue. In the filing, company President Jonathan Stanley cited the need to address rising labor expenses, fund the company’s water storage tank maintenance program, and cover the costs associated with implementing an enhanced cybersecurity system to protect BWC’s water system, as well as increased chemical expenses.
BWC serves 22,232 customers in Raleigh and Fayette counties.
