ASHLAND, VA (LOOTPRESS)— Animal control officers in Virginia were called to one of their wildest cases yet after a raccoon broke into a liquor store, tore through the booze aisle, and then promptly passed out in the bathroom like it was the end of a college frat party.
The Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter says officers were dispatched to the Ashland ABC store on Saturday, where they found the furry suspect sprawled out unconscious in the restroom — apparently after sampling the merchandise a little too enthusiastically.
Store staff reported that the masked bandit had ransacked multiple shelves, knocked over bottles, and helped itself to the good stuff before crawling into the bathroom to sleep it off.
Officers “safely secured the very intoxicated raccoon,” the shelter said, noting that the animal was cooperative — mainly because it was still out cold.
A Hangover and ‘Poor Life Choices’
After several hours of rest at the animal shelter, the raccoon regained consciousness and appeared unharmed, aside from what the shelter described as “a hangover and poor life choices.”
Once sober, the raccoon was released back into the wild — hopefully with a newfound appreciation for moderation.
The store has not pressed charges.
