BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A high-speed chase through the Seth area of Boone County on Saturday, June 14, 2025, led to the arrest of a North Carolina man on multiple charges, including drug possession and fleeing from law enforcement.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., Senior Trooper M. Holl and Trooper M.D. Veres were conducting routine patrol on Prenter Road when they observed a black Mitsubishi Outlander with North Carolina plates speeding well over the posted 25 mph limit. The vehicle was seen crossing the center line and reaching speeds of up to 80 mph.
When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated, initiating a dangerous pursuit. The suspect continued south on Prenter Road and turned onto Coal Fork Laurel, driving eastbound in the westbound lane at excessive speeds for roughly three miles before crashing.
The driver, later identified as Christopher Erik Mullin, fled the crash on foot into a wooded area. After a brief foot pursuit and struggle, officers took Mullin into custody.
A search of the crashed vehicle revealed approximately $2,700 in cash, 20 grams of suspected cocaine, 33 hydrocodone pills, and a digital scale with white powder residue.
Troopers noted that Mullin showed signs of drug impairment, including bloodshot eyes, constricted pupils, and eyelid tremors. He refused to perform field sobriety tests but admitted he fled because he was “scared of cops” and believed he had cocaine in his system.
Mullin was taken to Boone Memorial Hospital for a voluntary blood draw and then processed at the West Virginia State Police Madison Detachment. He was later transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail pending arraignment.
Charges against Mullin include fleeing in a vehicle, possession with intent to deliver, obstructing an officer, and driving under the influence.
