KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 10/28/25 10:03 AM: Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the West Virginia State Police, arrested a Michigan man following a high-speed pursuit that ended in a crash late Monday night.
Officials identified the driver as Christopher Allen Holloway, 59, of Lansing, Michigan.
The incident began when the Charleston Police Department issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for a Ford F-250 that had been driving the wrong way on a one-way street and nearly struck a Charleston Police cruiser. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Holloway fled outside the city limits.
Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit, which reached speeds nearing 100 mph as the suspect vehicle traveled along Kanawha Boulevard and onto Interstate 64 toward Belle.
The chase continued along I-64, where the truck maintained speeds above 90 mph and forced other motorists off the roadway before crashing near the 76-mile marker on the West Virginia Turnpike.
Authorities said Holloway was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders. He was taken to CAMC General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being released into police custody.
Both the Charleston Police Department and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office filed separate warrants charging Holloway with Fleeing with Reckless Indifference. He was transported to South Central Regional Jail to await arraignment in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Investigators later learned that Holloway is currently on parole in Michigan after serving 14 years in prison in Virginia. He may face additional charges for violating parole in Michigan.
No deputies or members of the public were injured during the incident, which remains under investigation.
