CASS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Travelers looking for a one-of-a-kind overnight experience in the mountains of West Virginia can now book 2026 stays at two of Cass Scenic Railroad State Park’s most popular accommodations.
Mountain Rail West Virginia announced that reservations are now open for the Castaway Caboose and the Cass Camp Car, both of which regularly sell out well in advance.
The Cass Camp Car offers a new overnight experience inside an authentic piece of logging history. The accommodation features Mower Lumber Company Camp Car No. 419, the last surviving Cass-built camp car that once housed loggers working on Cheat Mountain from 1940 until operations ended in 1960.
Paired with a historic caboose, the lodging can sleep up to six guests and blends vintage railroad charm with modern amenities. Guests will find heat, a refrigerator, range, linens, towels, utensils, a full-size shower, and a restroom inside the restored rail cars.
Visitors are also provided with a load of firewood, allowing them to gather around a private campfire while taking in the history and scenery of Cass.
Officials encourage travelers to reserve early, noting that both rail-based stays are among the most sought-after lodging options in the area.
