CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A hot Sunday is in store with showers and thunderstorms later today and tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.
While today will see dry conditions and unseasonably warm temperatures, a high-pressure system moving eastward will bring moisture into the area this afternoon, increasing the chances of showers and thunderstorms.
This weather activity is expected to spread northward tonight, driven by an upper-level disturbance.
As the work week begins, the region is likely to experience more active weather with slow-moving, heavy thunderstorms.
These storms could lead to locally excessive rainfall, posing a risk of high water in urban areas or locations with poor drainage.
The active weather pattern is anticipated to provide some relief from the heat early in the week.
However, as conditions potentially become less active later in the week, warmer afternoons may return.
