MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An investigation is underway in Monongalia County after a body was discovered near Cheat Lake earlier this week.
On, February 26, 2023, at approximately 1:00 pm, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives were dispatched to a wooden area between South Peirpont Road and The Hannalei Development in the Cheat Lake area of Monongalia County, WV, where human remains were discovered.
Mon EMS and a representative from the Medical Examiner’s Office responded for assistance in recovering the remains.
The remains have been sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and manner of death.
No further information has been released at this time.
