MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities have identified human remains discovered in recent weeks on Little Indian Creek Road.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office reports that the human remains discovered in Monongalia County on November 16, 2024, have been identified as those of 47-year-old Morgantown resident, Kimberly M. Osborne.
Osborne had last been seen in the River Road area of Morgantown and was reported missing to the West Virginia State Police in May of this year.
The preliminary identification has been made following an extensive investigation which is said to comprise includes evidence obtained during the exhumation of the body, statements issued to law enforcement by individuals with pertinent knowledge regarding the the case, along with digital and forensic evidence that was obtained.
The findings come as the result of a 7-month effort in coordination with multiple law enforcement agencies including the West Virginia State Police, ATF, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, FBI Pittsburgh Field Office, and Monongalia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Notably, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the death of the Osborne has been ruled a homicide by investigating authorities.
“Detectives are continually working leads that are being provided to our office,” said the MCSO in a statement regarding the situation. “If anyone has any further information that they wish to provide, please contact the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 304-291-7260.
