HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A coordinated law enforcement operation led to the arrest of a Huntington man and the seizure of drugs, firearms, and cash early this morning.
The Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force, along with the Huntington Police Department SWAT Team and Special Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 1100 block of 25th Street.
The operation was part of an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession in the community.
During the search, officers detained two individuals, including Tayron J. Griffin, 24, of Huntington.
Investigators recovered over 600 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a large sum of U.S. currency, two pistols, a short-barreled assault rifle, and materials used for drug packaging and distribution.
One of the firearms had been reported stolen from Charleston.
Huntington Mayor Patrick Farrell praised the efforts of law enforcement.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our officers. They don’t just respond to crime—they prevent it. They were born for this work, and they do it with vigilance, courage, and an unshakable commitment to Huntington,” Farrell said.
“Residents should feel safer because of the work our police department is doing. The message for the bad guys? Not here. Not in Huntington. Not anymore.”
Griffin has been charged with three felony counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and one misdemeanor count of receiving or transferring stolen property.
He was arraigned before Magistrate Sperry at the Cabell County Courthouse and is currently being held at Western Regional Jail on a $105,000 bond.
