MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Fayette County man was arrested on Sunday, February 9, 2025, following an alleged domestic altercation in which he reportedly attempted to set fire to a plastic bag near his wife and forcibly removed her nightgown.
According to Cpl. N.D. Hall of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to 314 Morris Drive in Montgomery at approximately 1:31 a.m. in response to a domestic incident reported by Betty Carroll.
Mrs. Carroll told authorities that her husband, identified as Brian Carroll, had engaged in a physical altercation with her. She alleged that during the dispute, Mr. Carroll lit a plastic bag on fire and attempted to burn her. She also reported that he ripped off her nightgown and shoved her inside the residence.
Upon arrival, officers observed Mrs. Carroll’s nightgown torn, though no visible bruising or injuries were noted at the time. Mr. Carroll was found inside the residence, naked and non-compliant.
Based on Mrs. Carroll’s statement and physical evidence, Mr. Carroll was arrested for Domestic Battery. He was taken to the Valley Detachment for processing before being transported to Southern Regional Jail, where he awaits arraignment.
Authorities documented the incident by taking a recorded statement from Mrs. Carroll and photographs of the torn nightgown. Chief P.R. Workman of the Montgomery Police Department assisted with the response.
