BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An incapacitated adult was found covered in feces, filth, and was denied food, police say.
According to Beckley Police, they responded to Clyde Street for a request to check the well-being of a person. The complainant told emergency officials that her client had informed her of a case of elder abuse. The client stated she had stayed the night on the home couch and observed a man living in poor living conditions.
The woman said the man’s caretaker, Bobby McKinney, had denied the victim food, and he was covered in feces and filth. When police arrived, they discovered the victim living in deplorable conditions.
The victim told authorities that McKinney did not treat him well and hadn’t been able to take a shower or bath in weeks. The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Doctors admitted the victim due to his wounds, malnutrition, electrolyte imbalance, and renal failure. It was determined that the caretaker had been taking care of the victim for years. The victim allegedly was severely neglected and had not had medical care or proper nutrition for an extended time. The victim had not been bathed or had a change of clothing or bedding for a long time. Nurses noted that the victim’s socks were torn and partially embedded into his skin due to the discharge of body fluids from the wounds on his feet and legs.
McKinney was charged with abuse and neglect of an incapacitated adult.
