BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday addressed alleged student threats which is expected to result in increased Sheriff’s Deputy presence at Independence Middle School.
“The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls this afternoon and evening (11-7-23) regarding alleged threats by a couple of students at Independence Middle School,” said Sheriff J. C. Canaday of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. “Deputies have been following up on these reports all evening.”
Sheriff Canaday would disclose that the students alleged to have participated in the threats in question had been interviewed along with several alleged witnesses to the threats.
Though it was advised that none of the alleged threats could be substantiated whatsoever, Sheriff Canaday stated that, “out of an abundance of caution,” extra Deputies would be on hand at Independence Middle School to prevent any potential incidents.
