SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Students, staff, and community members gathered in Sophia on Friday afternoon to partake in the Independence High School Homecoming Parade event.
The festivities got underway at 4:00pm on Friday, October 6, and saw participation from the students of Independence High School as well as feeder schools such as Independence Middle and Coal City Elementary among others.
Schools represented their various departments with sections of the parade and floats dedicated to specific in-school groups such as marching band students, various athletic groups, and homecoming court nominees.
The patriotic event saw those lining the streets in attendance on the receiving end of loads of delicious treats from passing participants, which all included community entities such as the Coal City Fire Department and Raleigh County Family Support Center.
