COAL CITY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Independence Patriots defended their home field for the second straight week, defeating Martins Ferry (Ohio) 35-14 Friday night.
With the win, the Patriots improved to 2-0 on the young season, using a balanced attack to pull away from the Purple Riders.
Independence jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, keeping the momentum on their side for most of the night.
The Patriots’ offense found rhythm both through the air and on the ground, while the defense came up with key stops to keep Martins Ferry from mounting a comeback.
Independence will now look to carry its momentum on the road as they prepare to travel to Ohio next Friday for a matchup against Warren Local.
