RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A late-night domestic disturbance in Raleigh County led to child abuse allegations after an infant was reportedly slammed to the floor during an argument.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched around 2:57 a.m. on December 21, 2025, to a child abuse and neglect complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant, who reported that several friends were visiting when the defendant, identified as Shaniqua Gibson, became involved in a physical altercation with another woman.
The complainant stated the two women pulled each other’s hair and were “trying to kill each other.” He reported that the fight escalated and that Gibson initiated the physical confrontation. He said he intervened, broke up the fight, and convinced both parties to leave the residence.
Police said the situation did not end there. The complainant reported that Gibson later returned, and another confrontation occurred in the driveway. He added that Gibson had been in a bad mood throughout the day, which he believed contributed to the incident.
According to the report, the complainant later went upstairs and found their 1-year-old child crying. He alleged that Gibson then slammed the infant onto the floor while holding the child face down. Officers observed visible abrasions on the baby’s nose, which they said were consistent with the account provided.
The complainant also told officers that the couple’s 4-year-old daughter witnessed the incident in the bedroom. While officers were present, the child reportedly sat up in bed and stated, “Mommy did it.”
The investigation is ongoing, and the incident occurred within Raleigh County, West Virginia.
