BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia inmate is facing serious felony charges after authorities say a quantity of fentanyl was discovered inside a correctional facility.
According to law enforcement, troopers received a complaint alleging that an inmate had brought a white powdery substance—believed to be fentanyl—into the facility. The report prompted an internal investigation involving correctional staff and supervising officers.
Officials say Correctional Officer Niday became suspicious while monitoring inmates and observed the accused acting unusually, including manipulating their clothing in a manner that raised concern. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a vial with a black lid containing a white powdery substance.
The substance was secured as evidence and later analyzed, with results confirming it to be fentanyl, a powerful and potentially deadly synthetic opioid.
Surveillance footage reviewed by authorities, along with evidence collected at the scene, supported the findings. The investigation involved multiple officials, including Major Hood and other correctional personnel.
The accused, Crystal Gore, has been charged with a felony count of aiding escape, stemming from the introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.
Authorities emphasize that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
