BRUCETON MILLS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Jevonte L. Green was found unresponsive at the United States Penitentiary (USP) Hazelton in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia.
Responding employees initiated life-saving measures. Emergency medical services (EMS) were requested while life-saving efforts continued. Mr. Green was subsequently pronounced deceased by EMS personnel.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified.
No employees or other incarcerated individuals were injured and at no time was the public in danger.
Mr. Green was a 36-year-old male who was sentenced in the Eastern District of Tennessee to a 65-month sentence for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. He had been in custody at USP Hazelton since February 6, 2024.
USP Hazelton is a high security facility.
