FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An inmate is charged with additional felonies in Fayette County. Sheriff Mike Fridley provides the following information regarding this incident.
This morning, Friday, February 9, 2024, deputies were notified by Officers within the Temporary Holding Cell of the Sheriff’s Office that they believed an inmate was concealing narcotics. Deputies reviewed security footage and saw the inmate approach the heat vent and begin rummaging as soon as he arrived from Southern Regional Jail. he was seen putting a clear plastic bag from the vent into his sock and lunch bag.
Deputies then went to the holding cell to search the inmate. Deputies retrieved multiple plastic baggies of what is believed to be marijuana and methamphetamines. This incident remains under investigation, but it is currently believed an individual who was arrested yesterday, February 8, 2024, had stashed the unfound narcotics and had told the inmates that they were coming to Fayette County, where they were.
Shannon Carte, 52, was charged with the felony offenses of Possession with intent to Deliver Narcotics (2 counts) as well as Offenses Related to Adults in Custody.
