BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In the midst of the ongoing search for a City Manager candidate, City of Beckley Recorder-Treasurer and CFO, Billie Trump has been named Interim City Manager.
LOOTPRESS has confirmed that Trump has agreed to step into the role after much speculation of such, bringing to light a temporary path forward in light of months of uncertainty.
Mayor Rob Rappold is set to leave office in the coming weeks, with Ryan Neal elected last month to take on the position of Mayor. Many have expressed uncertainty with regard to what this means for the city, however, as the transition from a Strong Mayor to City Manager form of government has been met with scrutiny from city residents.
City officials have held regularly occurring committee meetings in an effort to move the candidate selection process along, with the Baker Tilly organization having been announced as becoming active in the recruitment process.
Trump has been active in city matters for decades, beginning his career with the city fire department and eventually retiring as chief. He has been active in the role of city Recorder-Treasurer since 2016. Confirmation has not been provided with regard to precisely when Trump is expected to begin work as Interim City Manager.
