POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested Friday, September 12, after police say he was found intoxicated, making threats, and causing a disturbance in Point Pleasant.
According to Chief Joe Veith, officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue for a report of a man digging in a dumpster. When officers arrived, they found James H. Hodge lying on the ground near a building.
Hodge appeared highly intoxicated, with slurred speech and glassy eyes. While speaking with officers, he opened a bottle of Fireball whiskey and attempted to take a drink in public. When told to stop, Hodge allegedly became upset, cursed at the officer, and threatened to kill him.
Police say Hodge tried to stagger away into the roadway despite being instructed to stay put for EMS assistance. When Chief Veith attempted to escort him out of traffic, Hodge resisted and continued to make verbal threats.
Hodge was placed under arrest and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and obstruction.
