CABELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An intoxicated man is behind bars after calls were made he was beating and kicking a dog.
On Sunday, June 30, 2024, at around 7 pm, a Deputy, accompanied by Home Confinement Officer Thiesson, arrived at Short St. in Huntington, WV, to follow up on a report of a man beating and kicking a black and white Shih Tzu.
While on the sidewalk along the 200 block of Short St., this Deputy noticed an unsteady and boisterous male who appeared to be shouting for something.
Upon stopping, the male, identified as the defendant Sydney Figg, inquired about his dog. This Deputy then informed him of the reason for their presence, but the defendant, who was heavily intoxicated and emitting a strong alcohol odor, was uncooperative.
The defendant then grabbed this Deputy’s left arm and demanded to know if they had his dog. In response, this Deputy swiftly restrained the defendant with the assistance of HCO Thiessen, and he was subsequently arrested for Battery on a Police Officer and Public Intoxication.
He was then transported to the Cabell County Courthouse for arraignment on the charges mentioned above.
