FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Board of Education will soon have a new member following Tuesday night’s election of Joshua Crist.
Board of education races in West Virginia are nonpartisan and were decided in the Primary Election Tuesday.
Along with Crist, current board member Cindy Whitlock won reelection.
Myra Taylor, who was also running, came in third place.
In LOOTPRESS’ “Meet the Candidate” series, Crist said his top priorities were expansion of academic opportunities, vocational programs, and improvement of all athletics facilities.
“I have gained valuable insight into education observing my grandfather Jack, grandmother Nora, mother Kim, and father Barry, all of whom have over 140 years of service in our Fayette County school system,” Crist said.
The final unofficial results are as follows:
Joshua Crist: 39.96% | 3,713 votes
Cindy Whitlock: 37.31% | 3,467 votes
Myra L. Taylor: 22.73% | 2,112 votes
