(LOOTPRESS) – Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris says she is considering another bid for the White House in 2028. In an interview with the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris said she “possibly” could be president one day and expressed confidence that a woman will eventually hold the nation’s highest office.
The remarks mark Harris’s strongest indication yet that she may run again after losing to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Despite polls showing her as an underdog for the Democratic nomination, Harris dismissed the numbers, saying she has never relied on polling data to guide her political decisions.
“If I listened to polls, I would not have run for my first office—or my second—and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here,” she said.
Harris also criticized former President Trump, calling him a “tyrant,” and said her warnings about his leadership during the 2024 campaign had proven accurate.
As Democrats continue to assess the reasons behind Trump’s decisive victory last year, much of the blame has been directed at former President Joe Biden for not stepping aside earlier. Some party members have also questioned whether Harris could have run a stronger campaign with a clearer economic message.
When asked if her grandnieces would see a woman in the Oval Office during their lifetimes, Harris replied, “For sure.” Pressed on whether that woman could be her, she said, “Possibly.”
Harris emphasized that she has not yet made a final decision but made it clear she is not stepping away from public service. “I am not done,” she said. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service—and it’s in my bones.”
