BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The owners of the historic and popular King Tut Drive-In have officially announced their last day of business.
The McKays broke the sad news of a possible closure at the end of July, and on Wednesday, they made the formal decision to close.
Dave and Michelle McKay announced that their last day of business will be on Tuesday, September 5th. They say they are staying open for business to allow current employees to look for other places of employment.
They were looking to sell the property to someone who would keep the drive-in open, but although there were many interested buyers, no one officially made the offer to purchase.
The McKay’s said they have sold the property to United Rentals who will not keep the drive-in open but needs the land.
Dave & Michelle encourage everyone to stop by throughout August to grab a bite to eat and say hello.
