LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was arrested Thursday evening after Lewisburg city officials reported witnessing her acting erratically while attending a family Halloween movie event with her young child at the Lewisburg Visitor Center.
According to a police report from Patrolman M. Yates of the Lewisburg Police Department, officials observed the woman — later identified as Danielle Fleschner — appearing unsteady, repeatedly nodding off, and moving around the room while her daughter followed. Several concerned parents also approached officers to report similar behavior.
When officers made contact, Fleschner appeared sluggish and unsteady on her feet.
She initially denied recent drug use but later admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that morning with an acquaintance, according to the report.
A search of Fleschner’s purse revealed used foils and “shooters” consistent with drug use, as well as multiple pieces of Halloween candy. Police said one foil contained a crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, and another held an orange-white powder. The suspected drugs were collected and sent to the West Virginia State Forensic Laboratory for confirmation.
Fleschner was arrested and charged with child neglect, possession of a controlled substance, and public intoxication. She was transported to the Southern Regional Jail following processing at the Lewisburg Police Department.
Child Protective Services was notified, and the child was safely released to her grandparents.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
