CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Log Cabin Republicans is the nation’s original and largest organization representing LGBT conservatives and straight allies who support freedom for all Americans. We are a new chapter representing the State of West Virginia to support LGBT issues and Republican values through advocacy, engagement, and thought leadership.
What We Believe:
We are loyal West Virginia Republicans. We believe in limited government, strong national defense, free markets, low taxes, personal responsibility, and individual liberty including our First and Second Amendment rights. Log Cabin Republicans represent an important part of the West Virginia family—taxpaying, hard-working people who proudly believe in our state & nation’s greatness. We also believe all West Virginians have the right to liberty and equality. We believe equality for LGBT Americans is in the finest tradition of the West Virginia Republican Party and seek to enlighten our Party about why inclusion wins.
Why We Exist:
Log Cabin Republicans work to make the West Virginia Republican Party more inclusive, particularly on LGBT issues. Equality will be impossible to achieve without Republican votes. Working from inside the Party—educating other West Virginia Republicans about LGBT issues— is the most effective way to gain new Republican allies for equality. Log Cabin also exists as a voice for WV GOP values among members of the LGBT community who may not agree with or feel represented by the common portrayal of the community by the extreme, woke left or mainstream media.
To achieve a more inclusive WV GOP, it is important for LGBT West Virginians to participate in the Republican Party, raising awareness around the need for civil equality and equal protection under the law. Log Cabin Republicans is shattering stereotypes, being an example to the WV GOP’s rank-and-file about the importance of equality for all Americans, including LGBT Americans. We are on the path to progress.
Working Together:
Aside from working for change within the West Virginia GOP, Log Cabin Republicans continue building new alliances in the LGBT community. Both parties have an important role to play in advancing our civil rights. Log Cabin Republicans will be doing important work to promote the West Virginia GOP. Without more allies in the West Virginia Republican Party, equality will be impossible to achieve. With your help we can achieve representation in West Virginia.
