WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Expand Energy Corporation donated $15,000 to the nonprofit Libera, Inc. to bring the organization’s STEAM Exploration Program to three Ohio County elementary schools.
The program kicked off at Madison Elementary School in Wheeling today, where students learned about engineering while exploring the Cass Scenic Railroad. Students built ramps and tracks like those used by the Cass steam engines. More, all students were able to take home Lila Bear STEAM activity boxes to explore with their families and learn more about engineering.
“We believe in empowering the next generation of innovators by supporting hands on learning. We are proud to partner with organizations like Libera that invest in a future where creativity and critical thinking thrive,” said Stephanie Paluda, Community Relations Manager at Expand Energy.
Libera partners with foundations, individuals, and businesses like Expand Energy Corp to sponsor their STEAM Exploration Program at elementary schools across West Virginia. Since 2022, Libera has provided over 5,000 STEAM activity boxes to students in schools across the state, teaching them about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) in a fun, relatable and hands-on way.
“We are so grateful to work with partners like Expand Energy who not only realize the importance of bringing programs like ours to youth in WV, but who take an active role in educating and inspiring students in the communities they work in,” said Kelsey Riggi, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Libera.
Libera and Expand Energy Corp will be visiting Woodsdale Elementary and Warwood Elementary on November 19th and 20th. Libera and Expand Energy Corp plan to partner again in the new year to bring this program to more students in Ohio County.
