The 2024 District 4 Little League Baseball All-Star Tournament opened Friday in Princeton.
Western Greenbrier blanked Hinton 10-0 in game one, while Shady Spring knocked off Sophia 9-1 in game two.
Scoring in all four innings, Western Greenbrier was paced by Hunter Tincher with two hits, including a double, and two RBI.
Brady Thymius added a double, a single and one RBI, while Lane Bevins had two hits and drove in one run.
Jordan Bevins had a single and an RBI. Tayt Martin smacked a triple as part of his two-hit night.
Shady Spring scored five runs across the first two innings and was never challenged the rest of the way.
Evan Dunaway picked up the win going five innings, scattering six hits against one run with 10 strikeouts.
Hunter Pennington was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, while Trent Whitlock had a double and an RBI for Shady.
Carson Johnson recorded two RBI and Lincoln Cook had one RBI.
Saturday’s action starts in Lewisburg at Hollowell Park where Princeton and Beckley will clash at 1 p.m. Following that game at 3 p.m. Central Greenbrier will host Bluefield.
The evening games switch to Beckley Little League Park at 6 p.m. for a game between Western Greenbrier and Fayetteville. The 8 p.m. game will feature Shady Spring versus Trap Hill.
