FAYETTEVILLE- The Beckley-Shady Spring rivalry was renewed tonight in Fayetteville during the District-4 8-10 Minor League Girls Softball Tournament.
Mila Roop took the mound for Beckley and pitched a no-hitter as the bats for Beckley’s offense were on fire in the 15-2 win.
Roop struck out eleven batters through four innings and walked five as Shady Spring could not connect on offense. Shady’s only runs came from walks in the third and fourth innings.
Beckley came to the plate with a fierce approach, scoring three runs in the first inning, six in the second, and six in the third inning.
Roop’s dominance on the mound continued on offense as she was walked twice and hit a home run in the third inning, resulting in three runs for the night.
Finley Tussey added a single and a double with the entire Beckley squad amassing 13 hits.
Action in the District 4 double-elimination minor league girls tournament will continue Saturday at 1 p.m. as Beckley battles Sophia.
New River Gorge (Fayetteville), who beat Sophia in game one Friday night, faces the winner between Beckley and Sophia in the championship round.
