BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Southern Communications has announced the passing of longtime radio voice and personality Warren Ellison.
He died Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 66.
Known on-air as “The Old-Timer” and “Night Rider,” Ellison had been with 105.9 FM WTNJ since around 1987.
A nearly lifelong resident of the Beckley area, he was most recently known for his evening program, Drive Home with Warren Ellison.
Southern Communications released a statement Monday evening:
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear colleague, friend and family member Warren Ellison.
Warren was an incredible part of our family— his kindness and dedication touched everyone who had the privilege of working with him. He will be truly missed.
We are heartbroken by this loss and ask for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements and celebration of life details will be shared once they are finalized.”
Ellison’s voice and presence on airwaves in southern West Virginia made him a familiar figure to generations of listeners.
