BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County man is facing allegations of domestic assault after an argument with his live-in girlfriend turned physical while their child was present, according to law enforcement.
On April 14, 2025, at approximately 10:41 a.m., Deputy R.B. Dotson and Sgt. A.C. Cook of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence located in Wharton.
According to dispatchers at Boone County E-911, the victim was able to call a friend for help during the altercation with her boyfriend, identified as Cory Woodie.
When deputies arrived at the scene around 11:23 a.m., they made contact with Woodie outside the residence. He admitted to being involved in an argument with the victim but claimed he was leaving to retrieve his dog.
The victim later told deputies that the dispute occurred while the couple was in bed with their small child. During the argument, Woodie allegedly became enraged and punched the victim in the thigh, leaving her in fear for both her safety and that of their child. She said she fled the scene and eventually contacted a friend for help.
The couple lives in an apartment above a garage on the property owned by the accused’s father. The charges are based on the officer’s observations and a verbal statement from the victim.
