BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to break into a convenience store and threatening responding officers during an arrest Saturday night.
According to the West Virginia State Police, troopers were dispatched to the Julian Mini Mart in the Julian area of Boone County around 10:45 p.m. on May 23, 2026, following a reported breaking and entering call.
When officers arrived, they reportedly found Charles Robert Bourne standing at the entrance of the business. Troopers observed that the front door had been damaged and the glass shattered.
Police said Bourne told officers he was attempting to gain entry because he claimed to own the establishment.
According to the complaint, when troopers attempted to place Bourne in handcuffs, he allegedly refused to comply and grabbed onto the brush guard of a patrol cruiser in an effort to resist arrest.
Troopers then assisted Bourne to the ground, where police say he became combative. During the struggle, Bourne allegedly threatened to kill the officers before eventually being taken into custody without further incident.
The incident remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.
