GAULEY BRIDGE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Fayette County man is facing charges after allegedly attacking his wife and threatening her life during a domestic incident that led to a foot chase to a nearby convenience store.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. on April 5, 2026, to the Go Mart on Gauley River Road in Gauley Bridge for a reported domestic in progress.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a woman, identified as Caleb Morris’s wife, who reported that the incident had occurred earlier at a residence on Conley Hill Road.
Morris told deputies that after getting out of the shower, her husband, Caleb Morris, allegedly attacked her—knocking her onto a bed and choking her while threatening to “slaughter her like a pig.” She further stated he grabbed a broken object and held it near her face during the assault.
According to the report, the suspect allegedly continued choking her after she attempted to get away. He then reportedly warned her not to take photos of her injuries, threatening further violence if law enforcement was contacted.
Morris told deputies she was able to escape, get dressed, and run toward the Go Mart, with her husband chasing her down the street. She made it inside the store and asked an employee to call 911.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported Morris to Montgomery General Hospital for evaluation. Deputies followed and documented visible injuries to her neck, upper chest, and knee.
Authorities say the victim was advised of her domestic violence protection (DVP) rights and indicated she planned to file for an order.
During the investigation, deputies determined Caleb Morris has a prior domestic battery conviction in Fayette County Magistrate Court from October 2025. Officials also confirmed he was out on bond for multiple charges, including destruction of property, domestic battery (second offense), attempted felony, leaving the scene, no insurance, and domestic assault.
An arrest warrant has been requested for Caleb Morris on a charge of domestic battery, second offense.
The incident remains under investigation.
