WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Wyoming County man is facing serious legal trouble after allegedly threatening neighbors with a shotgun during a disturbing incident that unfolded early Monday morning.
At approximately 2:00 AM, Cpl. Zach Cook with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to a breaking and entering complaint. When he arrived on scene, a woman approached him on foot, claiming she had just fled from a dangerous situation involving Linza Browning.
According to the woman, she attempted to use a neighbor’s security camera to signal for help, since there was no internet access at her residence. She told deputies that Browning had “gone crazy” earlier in the evening and had fired a shotgun at their dog, pointed the weapon at her, and shouted racial slurs and threats.
Moments later, another individual exited the house to check on the commotion. That’s when Browning allegedly pointed the shotgun directly at them and pulled the trigger — but the gun misfired. The victim reportedly disarmed Browning, only for him to re-enter the home and retrieve a second shotgun, which he then aimed at the door, effectively barricading himself inside and preventing anyone from entering.
With a 2-year-old child also in the home during the incident, the responding deputy initiated a Child Protective Services referral due to the potential danger.
Authorities seized two firearms from the scene:
-
One 12-gauge Remington shotgun
-
One 28-gauge Stevens shotgun
The victims later appeared at the Wyoming County Magistrate Court to obtain a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
