BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A terrifying domestic violence incident early Saturday morning ended with the arrest of a convicted felon after a woman reported being chased and shot at while fleeing for her safety.
According to the Bluefield City Police Department, dispatch received a 911 call at 7:33 a.m. reporting a female being pursued and shot at by a male suspect. Officers R.L. Burton and P.S. Mullins responded to the area of Peck Street, while Sgt. H.D. Browning made contact with the female victim in the police department parking lot.
The woman was visibly injured, with a swollen right eye and cuts from shattered glass. Her vehicle’s driver-side window had been broken, and glass was scattered throughout the car. She told officers she was in shock after the incident.
She reported that she had run into Steven Walker—a man she previously had a relationship with—while out with friends the night before. After avoiding confrontation, she returned home to find Walker already inside her residence. An argument escalated into violence when Walker allegedly punched her multiple times in the face.
She said that after Walker left, she followed him to Wayne Street where another argument broke out. Walker allegedly threw an object at her car, shattering the window, before heading to his vehicle—where she believed he kept a gun. Fearing for her life, she fled the scene and drove to the police department.
Officers located Walker on Peck Street and took him into custody. A search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded pistol equipped with an attachment that allowed it to be used like a small rifle. Although a female with Walker initially claimed ownership of the weapon, she later admitted it belonged to Walker.
As a convicted felon, Walker is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was previously convicted in Virginia in 2011 for possession with intent to deliver Schedule I and II controlled substances.
Walker now faces multiple charges including:
-
Domestic Battery
-
Destruction of Property
-
Persons Prohibited from Possessing Firearms
She was transported by EMS for medical treatment.
