WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after he was found sleeping in a golf course storage building with a knife, BB gun, and drug-related items.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on September 20, deputies responded to a call about a man found sleeping inside a storage building at the Worthington Golf Course, located at the intersection of Core Road and 36th Street.
A groundskeeper discovered the man after opening the door to the building. As the man woke up, a knife fell to the floor, and a black pistol, later identified as a replica BB gun, was seen protruding from his pant pocket.
Deputies also found drug-related items on him.
Damage to the building included a broken metal grate used to enter through one of the windows.
The man, identified as James Dale Leary, 43, of Agnes Street, was arrested and charged with destruction of property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin/fentanyl, and refusal to submit to fingerprinting and photographs.
Leary was confined to the holding center, where he was arraigned and given a $500 surety bond, which was not posted.
